Academy Director
Ashley Hobson.
Twenty-five years of coaching and playing experience includes coaching at the Van Der Meer Academy, with the Peter Burwash International organization, on the ATP, WTA, and ITF International Junior tours in over 60 countries. Coached two top twenty WTA players and as a National coach, coaching and captaining teams competing in Davis Cup, Federation Cup, World Youth Cup, World Junior Tennis, Asian Games, and the All China Games. Has conducted coach seminars in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and USA. College educated as a lawyer completing BA and LLB degrees. Fluent in 3 languages. Competes in Ironman triathlons. Associations include PTR, NSCA and completed the USTA High Performance Coaching Program.

Mental Toughness Consultant
Dr. Bryce Young. Dr. Young has been successful as a teacher, coach and author. Featured as a clinician internationally, he has conducted Peak Performance Training Seminars for athletes and coaches in all sports. At Bethany College in Kansas, Dr. Young’s teams earned ten conference championships in ten years. In fourteen years of college coaching, Dr. Young’s student athletes achieved a 100% graduation rate including seven Academic All Americans and ten Playing All Americans. Young was five times voted Kansas Coach of the Year. He served as President of the NAIA National Tennis Coaches Association and as a member of the NCAA Intercollegiate Tennis Association Board of Directors.

Head Coach
Blaine Sumpter. Blaine joined HPTA after completing a degree in Professional Tennis Management at Ferris State University, Michigan. During his time there Blaine studied all aspects of coaching, physical development and player development. He also worked as assistant tennis professional at Ferris State.
Before attending Ferris State, Blaine played college tennis at Methodist University, NC. Blaine has taken players to all major junior tournaments in the US.
A USPTA certified coach, he has also coached at Stanford and Royal Melbourne Country Club, Chicago.
Academy Coaches
Greg Nelms. PTR professional with over ten years of teaching experience with junior players. Strong understanding and track record of developing younger players. Greg has a bachelors degree in Economics and an associate degree in Sport and Recreation Management.
Jeff Morehouse. Jeff was 1989 All-State Michigan Class B honorable mention and 1989-1993 Indiana Wesleyan University All District All Conference.
Following college, he coached the Fremont High School Girls team in 1993 and 1994, taking them to the state tournament both years.
From 1997-2009 Jeff coached at the Beechmont Racket club. Jeff's speciality is technical development of younger players.
Calvin Kemp. Calvin played college tennis at University of New Orleans and Georgia State, where he compiled a 10-1 singles record in 2010. He won numerous awards and was voted to all-state and all-conference teams.
As a junior, he won national and ITF titles and achieved a #1 national doubles ranking and top 30 singles ranking.
Calvin has worked as a hitting partner for both men and women tour professionals and has been a worldwide travelling coach/sparring partner for Donald Young ranked Top 50 on the ATP tour.
Sonja Anand. Sonja completed a B.S. degree in Biology/Pre-med from Wofford College, SC where she played tennis as a starter throughout her college career. She holds the most singles victory record at Wofford College for the year 2007-2008. Sonja assisted in coaching the Wofford Terriers in the spring and fall of 2010. Sonja is an alumnus of HPTA, training there for 6 years before going to college and was a member of the team that won the 18U USTA Team Tennis Nationals in 2006.
Nathan Mann. A PTA/PTR certified coach, Nathan has been teaching tennis since 2003, enjoying much success with junior development. Nathan played for four years on a scholarship at Queens University of Charlotte, where he played in the #2 and 3 singles position. He graduated with a certificate degree in Professional Tennis Management. This degree teaches the game at a very in depth level and creates a perfect base from which young coaches start their careers.
In 2006 Nathan played on the Pro Tennis Satellite Circuit.

Earl Williams. Earl graduated from Sacramento State University, where he was on a wrestling scholarship, with a degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition. He is a nationally certified coach through The American Sports Education Program, and the National Federation of High School Association, and a Certified Master Trainer.Earl was Senior Vice President of Sportslife Health & Fitness Club for 8 years, responsible for Marketing, Sales, and operations of 10 clubs. He owned and operated a health club in Gwinnett County for 13 years with his wife, Lori, before moving solely into Athletic Training, founding Georgia Sports Performance (GSP) as owner, operator, and Master Trainer. Earl has trained over 100 professional athletes in multiple sports and assisted athletes in acquiring over 100 scholarships in multiple sports, many at top state colleges and universities.
Dante Williams. Dante graduated Cum Laude from Samford University with a major in Fitness & Health Promotion and minor in Nutrition & Dietetics. He interned at Samford as assistant strength & conditioning coach, and at several fitness centers/organizations in Birmingham, Ala. Dante has 5 years training experience in exercise & nutrition designed for athletes & clients. After playing Arena Football for Albany Panthers & Fayetteville Force, Dante joined the Collins Hill high school football staff this year, and enjoys training, coaching, and being a role model to the young athletes that are forging their futures in academics and becoming successful athletes.
