Ladder Rules
- This ladder will begin June 1, 2011 and end May 25, 2012.
- The following prizes will be awarded at the end of the ladder.
- The player who plays the most matches will receive a Tecnifibre racquet package worth $500.
- The top boy and the top girl will each win Nike tennis shoes. Players must have played a minimum of six matches to be eligible for this prize.
- Players may challenge an opponent within 8 positions above or below them.
- You may not challenge the same opponent that you just played in your previous match except for the second-placed player challenging the first-placed player.
- You may have more than one challenge outstanding at a time. A player may decline a challenge without penalty if they already have two or more challenges outstanding and the match should not be reported as a declined challenge.
- If a player declines a challenge, they will drop one place in the ladder.
- If a player does not respond to a challenge in 7 days, or does not offer any times when the match can be played, the challenger may report the challenge as having been declined. See previous rule. If a player is not responding to email, please also try contacting by phone.
- Matches will be played at the challenged player's choice of courts. If the challenged player cannot provide courts, the challenger may provide courts. Matches may also be played during Saturday afternoon match play at Collins Hill, subject to court availability, but the match must be arranged in advance through a challenge to count for the ladder.
- The challenger will provide a new can of balls.
- Matches will be best of 3 sets. It is important to practice playing full-length matches as all major tournament main draws use three full sets. However, if court booking restrictions mean that you cannot guarantee court availability for long enough, you may agree to a third-set match tie break. This agreement must be made in advance of starting the match.
- If you played a match tie break, report the score of that set as 1-0
- A no-show is scored as a 6-0, 6-0 loss.
- The following system will be used to compute a player's position on the ladder: When a lower ranked player beats a higher ranked player, the lower ranked player "leap frogs" over the higher ranked player. If the higher ranked player wins, nothing happens.
- After the match, the winner will submit the score.
- If the challenge was declined or could not be scheduled, the challenger should submit the result, stating this.
- Only matches arranged in advance through challenges will count for the ladder.
