SMARTER Goal Setting



S.M.A.R.T.E.R = Specific, Measurable, Action-based, Realistic, Time line, Exciting, Recorded

We set goals so we can have a purpose and roadmap to what we do. It helps us focus, be accountable, enthusiastic and keeps us motivated! Set your goals and keep referring back to them to keep you on track and help you be more successful!

When setting goals, consider the following five focus areas:

  1. Technical
  2. Strategy/Tactics
  3. Conditioning
  4. Mental/Emotional
  5. Training Time

Typical training regimens are as follows - these may vary based on your goals:

  • Squad training: 10 - 14 hours/week
  • Sets: play 4 - 8 sets/week
  • Serving: 1 hour/week
  • Returning: 1 hour/week
  • Individual lessons: 1 - 2 hours/week
  • Tournaments: 2 per month

Use either the online form below, or download a document that you can use. If you use the online form, the input will be sent to Ashley and you will get a copy back. That way, both player and coach have a copy of the goals and can refer to and review them periodically.
